2021 has been quite a year! Looking back over the last 12 months, so much has happened that we could never have anticipated. While the UK, and the world as a whole, has continued to experience many significant challenges, there are also many things to be grateful for. We want to take a couple of minutes to focus on – and celebrate – some highlights for our year!
The Stamp Duty Holiday Boost
Not everything in the economy has had the same boost this year as the property market did, thanks to the Stamp Duty Land Tax Holiday. The temporary cut in stamp duty culminated with a record number of housing transactions over the summer. This had a hugely positive impact on the housing market as a whole and resulted in 2021 turning out to be a buoyant year for AWH!
The flexibility of our teams in adapting to the changes within Government restrictions has been commendable. The local and national lockdowns may have meant that the way we work has had to change, but everyone at AWH has pulled together to ensure that we have not only been able to successfully continue trading throughout the uncertainty, but have been able to work with more clients than ever before.
Preparing for growth
The increased demand for our services have meant that we have needed to increase our workforce. New people have joined us in various roles – from administrative support through to chartered surveying – at all levels, from junior to director.
We are extremely excited about all the members of the team who have recently joined AWH. You may already have read about two of them; Kevin Marshall BSc (Hons) MRICS, who joined as a Director within our Building Surveying team and Paul Tebbutt MRICS MCIArb, the latest director to join our Valuation Team.
Not only have we increased the extent of expertise offered through new appointments, but we are also delighted that Louise Manners BSc (Hons) MSc PGCE MRICS completed her qualification as a Chartered Surveyor earlier this year! Louise has been working alongside one of the three directors throughout her studies and has already contributed immensely to the success of many projects.
We know that the experience and expertise of Paul, Kevin and Louise – and everyone else at AWH – are contributing to the growth of the company. Having people of such a high calibre in the company has allowed us to build even stronger foundations following the shakeup of Covid-19 in 2020.
Awarded “Highly Commended” in B&C Awards
We are extremely proud of the work that all of our staff do and it was lovely to see our Valuation Team recognised for their exemplary work earlier this year. A friendly and professional manner, outstanding knowledge and expertise, a commitment to go above and beyond on every project we work on; all of these attributes are fundamental aspects of our company’s DNA.
And we are delighted that the hard work and dedication our Valuation Team put in was recently acknowledged at the Bridging & Commercial Awards where we received the “Highly Commended” award in the Best Valuation Partner category!
Reflecting on all the above, we are excited that 2021 has been a year where we have experienced such incredible successes in spite of the challenges we have all faced.
Elizabeth Adams BSc (Hons) MSc Chartered MCIPD, managing director of AWH sums it up beautifully for us:
The world has seen a crisis of an unprecedented nature and the long-term effects are beginning to be felt with the discovery of another variant. However, we have kept on working together as best we can throughout all of these difficulties and I want to say thank you to everyone for pulling together to keep things moving.
It’s the great sense of community in the world of property that have let us ride through these problems and that will continue to bolster us for what 2022 brings. Our community is only enhanced by Christmas, where we can take the opportunity to rest, celebrate and spend time with friends and family. Let us rest and relax, build and strengthen our ties to make 2022 a great year!
I hope you all enjoy a wonderful break with your loved ones, sharing gifts and time together.
